The Way

The way is open, man is free
To choose his path and what he’ll be

No two paths are quite the same
And yet we often point and blame

We do not see our brother’s burden
Instead we seek for ways to hurt him

Condemning him in all his sin
Not him alone but all his kin

Is this the way the Master taught us,
Whose blood, and sweat, and tears have bought us?

Did He truly teach us to condemn him?
Or to love and nurture and befriend him?

If you do not know the answer man
You have not heard His gospel plan

For while he suffered on the tree
For all mankind to know and see

Between two murderers he hung
When we heard His perfect gospel sung

One said to Him, “Remember me,
Thou Son of God from Galilee…

When to thy kingdom thou dost fly
Have mercy on me when I die!”

For to this man, the Lord did say,
“With Me you’ll be this very day…

In paradise beyond this world
My gospel in your heart unfurled.”

For this is why He came to Earth
To save from sin, give second birth

To kill in us the man of war,
To live in love forevermore.

Did we not hear the words he cried
Unto His Father when He died?

“Forgive them, please, they do not know
From whence I came and whence I go,”

He came to Us, Our debts to pay
He said to men, “I Am The Way”

The way is open, man is free
To choose his path and what he’ll be.
